The two checked to see if he was dead, but then he said with his last words that The Tragedy did this to him. They grabbed a bunch of swords and impaled Naegi from the outside. Kyoko and Byakuya tied Makoto up, put him into a barrel, and closed the lid.
Later, Hina was yelling at Kyoko before Kyoko explained everything to the survivors ( Leon, Byakuya, Mondo, Hina and Junko ) and then Naegi entered. But he then ran away, yelling that Kyoko was the mastermind. She then let him go because of her feelings for him. Makoto woke up and they fought each other for a while before Kyoko began to strangle Naegi. While searching through the monitors, she found that there was a TV displaying live footage of this outside world, which was just the killing games. Instead, she found a sleeping Makoto in his bed and a group of monitors and a speaker. In the AU, Makoto Naegi was found to be the Mastermind when Kyoko went into his room after his "execution" (the After School Lesson) and was going to search for clues.
